Who was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space?

Explanation

Kalpana Chawla became the first woman of Indian origin to travel to space when she flew as a mission specialist on Space Shuttle Columbia’s STS-87 mission in 1997. NASA identifies her as its first Indian-born astronaut. Her flight preceded the later spaceflights of other women of Indian origin.
