According to home department officials, cocaine use in Karnataka has doubled in the past 5 years though its prohibitive price ranges between Rs 6,000 and Rs 12,000 per gram depending on quality. “Bengaluru is now a new transit point in the drug’s route to South Asian countries, which is one of the reasons for its easy availability,” a senior police officer said.
